Lets Feed the Kids of North Georgia
For many children throughout Northeast Georgia, school is much more than a place to learn; it is also the only reliable source of food in their lives. Consequently, weekends become a time of uncertainty and hunger anxiety. From the time they leave school on Friday afternoons until they return Monday morning, these most vulnerable children may not know when or even if they'll be able to get a meal.
The Food 2 Kids program provides approximately six meals and two snacks each weekend that school is in session (40 weeks) to 158 children in Rabun County Schools. We need to increase the number of children who can receive the food. For every $260 or 400 lbs. of food we collect, another child can be added. A child would receive specific foods that are easy to open, nutritious, and do not require cooking on a stove.
Miss Lauren, Robert and Patsy’s Granddaughter and Michael and Kiley’s Daughter is participating the Southern Grace Pageants and will be collecting food and donations now until September 27, 2013 when she competes in the Miss Foxfire Mountaineer Scholarship Pageant in Rabun. Please consider helping us add more children to the program. It breaks our hearts to think a child may not have a meal all weekend long.
